Renault R5 GT Turbo FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Phase 1 and Phase 2 hoses? R5 GT Turbo Phase 1 (1985-1987) has slightly different cooling circuit than Phase 2 (1987-1991). Diameters and lengths vary, especially at radiator and cylinder head. Our kits are specifically matched to each phase. Phase 1 engine produces 115hp, Phase 2 120hp with factory intercooler.

Do the hoses handle increased boost pressure? Yes, our 5mm 4-ply boost hoses handle 43 PSI continuous and 72 PSI peak. Perfect for Stage 1 tuning (13 PSI), Stage 2 (17 PSI) or Stage 3 (22 PSI). VMQ silicone stays flexible at high temperature unlike hardening OEM rubber.

How long does complete kit installation take? Cooling kit installation: 1.5-2 hours for DIY mechanic. Turbo kit: 30 minutes. System drain required (3.5L fluid). Tools: 7-10mm wrenches, screwdrivers, drain pan. Detailed instructions included. Tip: slightly warming hoses eases installation.

Why replace original hoses if they're not leaking? OEM rubber hoses are 35+ years old. Even without visible leaks, they're porous, expand under pressure, reducing flow. Sudden burst risk (engine damage). Our silicone hoses eliminate this risk, improve cooling (-9°F average) and turbo response.

Are the included clamps good quality? Yes, 304 stainless steel clamps 9mm width included with cooling kits. 5-year corrosion resistance. Recommended torque 18-27 in-lbs. For track/competition use, we offer optional heavy-duty T-bolt clamps W4 (+$28 per kit).

Actual stock available and lead times? Currently: 12 Phase 1 kits, 15 Phase 2 kits, 20 turbo kits in stock. Weekly restocking. Sellout rare but possible July-August (high demand). Pre-order available. Same-day shipping if ordered before 5 PM, GLS delivery 24-48h Europe.

Will these fit my modified R5 GT Turbo? Standard kits fit stock configuration engines. For modified setups (front-mount intercooler, different turbo position, custom radiator), we recommend our universal silicone hoses cut-to-length with aluminum joiners.
