What is a silicone boost hose kit?

A silicone VMQ boost hose kit is a set of high-performance pipes replacing the original rubber hoses in the turbocharged air intake circuit. These hoses carry compressed air between the IHI RHF5B turbochargers, the intercooler and the intake manifolds of the AM 585 engine. Unlike EPDM rubber, which stiffens and cracks under repeated thermal cycling, VMQ silicone retains its flexibility and sealing properties throughout the vehicle's service life.

Applications and compatibility

This 3-piece hose kit has been specifically developed for the Maserati 3200 GT Phase 2, produced from 2001 to 2002. Phase 2 refers to the 2001 model year revision introduced in September 2000, featuring a revised Magnetti Marelli 4CM engine management system (reduced turbo lag), a re-geared steering rack and an extended warranty. The engine covered is the Maserati AM 585, a 3,217 cc twin-turbo V8 producing 370 hp at 6,250 rpm and 491 Nm at 4,500 rpm, fitted with two IHI RHF5B turbochargers. This kit is compatible with both the 6-speed Getrag 226 manual and 4-speed automatic (GTA) variants.
